fighting for ADSL2+ for Narre Warren South residents and business

Narre Warren South residents are once again getting a raw deal with the speeds of available internet access being offered. After being one of the last areas to be adsl enabled in the Melbourne metropolitan area - it would seem that a similar trend is following with adsl2+

so what's the deal?

Once again residents of Narre Warren South are being denied access to current broadband technologies.

history... After a lengthy battle to remove the restrictions of dial-up only internet access to most of the area, NAAG were able to help "convince" Telstra to build a sub-exchange in Narre Warren Sth. As a results many residents and businesses who were previously restricted to dial-up internet access due to the (then) antiquated pair-gain infrastructure now have ADSL available to them.

however... current broadband technologies are not ADSL speeds (previously 1.5Mbps but now up to 8mbps) but ADSL 2+ (theoretical speeds up to 24Mbps). As an area which showed massive support for the introduction of ADSL, Narre Warren South is a prime candidate for ADSL 2+ enablement.

We are appealing to independent ISP's to provide ADSL2+ to Narre Warren South residents and businesses served by the sub ESA (NDSH).

Currently with Bigpond cable connection and spending too much. Being tied to Telstra, we are not given a fair go. We need choice.

I am becomming increasingly frustrated with the lack of decent infrastructure in this area, why are our councillors putting so much effort and $$$ into their own agendas and not considering the needs of the people paying the taxes. To be able to continue growing the city of Casey needs to pull their fingers out and look into the fact that lack of adsl2 for the area is going to be detrimental to the growth of business and selling point for houses - who would want to live here when their voices are not heard by those who are empowered to speak on their behalf!

Im frustrated as well. In Rowville, my exchange is has ADSL2+ but only a few ISP as it is purely Telstra Equipment, thus telstra prices. Painful.
